Julie Mehretu August 10, 2004 | Archives We’d been wanting to visit Julie Mehretu’s studio since MoMA’s Drawing Now show in Fall 2002, and we finally had the opportunity last Thursday night. The timing was actually perfect as we got a sneak peek at the paintings that Julie has been preparing for the Carnegie International, to which the JAs are planning a trip for the opening in October. I don’t want to give too much away, but I will say that the work is as complex and absorbing as ever. We’re looking forward to seeing the finished paintings at the Carnegie, as well as the work of the other 37 participating artists.
